Daigo Saito, the 2012 Formula DRIFT champion, beat Kenny Moen in the final round to capture the Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge at the 40th Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Forrest Wang finished third.
“Last weekend at Round 1 of Formula DRIFT was not all that good for me,” said Saito. “We made a few modifications on the vehicle and I was able to get the win. Hopefully we can carry the momentum into the next round.”
The Super Drift Challenge, held under the lights for the second straight year at Long Beach, utilized turns 9-10-11 of the famed street circuit.
Sixteen of the top Formula DRIFT drivers competed for shares of the $25,000 prize purse, with eight vehicle manufacturers and seven tire companies represented in the competition.
The 2014 Formula DRIFT season continues May 9-10 at Road Atlanta.
