LONG BEACH, Calif. (March 7, 2013) – For the 12th consecutive year as the “Official Malt Beverage Sponsor” of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, Tecate Light invites racing fans 21 and older in Southern California to cross the finish line with carácter during one of the biggest racing weekends set for April 19-21. The cerveza brand will enhance their experience with live performances by Latin techno-pop group Moenia and Mexican rock phenomenon Moderatto, the Miss Tecate Light Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach competition, sweepstakes for a chance to win a VIP racing experience, discounts at retail and much more.
The highlight of the weekend for many Hispanic racing fans will be at the conclusion of the first racing day, when Tecate Light welcomes acclaimed Mexican bands Moenia and Moderatto to the Fiesta Friday stage. Moenia, considered one of the first successful experimental Mexican music groups, is comprised of Alfonso Pichardo (lead vocals, keyboard), Jorge Soto (keyboard, guitar), and Alejandro “Midi” Ortega (synth, programming). Moenia has released more than 10 albums since 1997 and some of their best known singles include “Estabas Ahí” (“You Were There”), “No Dices Más” (“You Say Nothing More”), and their cover of 80s hit “Ni Tú Ni Nadie” (“Neither You nor Anyone”).
Moderatto’s glam metal-themed attire and rock hits such as “Márchate Ya” (“Leave Now”) and “Isabel” have made this band a fan favorite at the TGPLB in previous years. The group consists of Jay De La Cueva (lead singer, guitar and piano), Jonathan Estrada (guitar), Javier "Cha!" Ramírez (bass, vocals), Marcelo Lara (lead guitar), and Iñaki Vazquez (guitar, synthesizer). Free Fiesta Friday passes will be available for fans 21-and-older to pick up at retail locations in Southern California where Tecate and Tecate Light are sold (where available and legal).

When the engines cool down on Sat., April 20, music fans will keep on rocking during a live performance by multi-talented rock musician Bret Michaels. As the lead singer for glam metal rock band “Poison”, Michaels had ten singles in Billboard’s Hot 100 including the No. 1 hit “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.” Since then, he’s recorded multiple best-selling solo albums and has appeared in TV shows including “Nashville Star”, VH1’s “Rock of Love with Bret Michaels” and NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice 3”. Most recently, Michaels released a new single, “You Know You Want It” from his upcoming album, “Good Songs And Good Friends”. Both concerts will be held on the outdoor stage behind the Convention Center and are free to race ticket holders.

In the weeks leading up to the music and racing extravaganza, Tecate Light will offer consumers 21 years or older who visit participating stores the opportunity to enter to win an exclusive VIP experience including three-day reserved seating tickets, hotel and transportation, a ride in a pace car for two, pit access, and passes to Tecate Light’s Hospitality Suite (no purchase necessary, valid only in CA and NV). Also at retail, consumers will be able to pick up instant rebates on hot deli food and snacks with the purchase of an 18-pack or larger of Tecate or Tecate Light. On Thunder Thursday (April 18) the cerveza brand will bring fans together to see the crowning of the 2013 Miss Tecate Light Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach; get a preview of the weekend ahead; and enjoy live music and Tecate Light special promotions at participating bars and restaurants along Pine Avenue.
In between the races, adults 21 and older will have the opportunity to enjoy a cold Tecate Michelada (a new savory mix of Tecate, lime and spices), Tecate or Tecate Light at pit stop-, sports-themed bars, cantinas and lounges located around the race circuit and inside the Lifestyle Expo.
