Two great concerts, both free to race ticketholders, take over the Grand Prix spotlight as 6:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights on the Convention Center stage.
Tecate Light's Fiesta Friday Concert features the popular Mexican band Kinky. Originally formed in Monterrey, Mexico in 1998, Kinky blends rock, electronica and Latin music to form their unique funky sound.
The band, whose biggest hit single was "Mas," is comprised of guitarist/lead vocalist Gilberto Cerezo, lead guitarist Carlos Chairez, keyboardist Ulises Lozano, bassist Cesar Pliego and drummer Omar Gongora.
Kinky has received multiple nominations from both the Latin Grammy Recording Academy and Latin MTV Video Music awards, has starred on tour and at such large festivals as Coachella and Central Park Summer Stage and has had great success in song placement on TV shows such as "CSI Miami" and "Dexter."
Singer/songwriter Paul Rodgers of Bad Company takes over the spotlight for Saturday night's Rock-N-Roar Concert.
As lead singer, Rodgers and Bad Company had more than six multi-platinum albums, spawning rock music classics like “Can’t Get Enough,” “Feel Like Making Love,” “Shooting Star” and “Rock and Roll Fantasy.”
As lead singer with Free, Rodgers and the group released four top-five albums, including smash hits like “All Right Now,” “Wishing Well” and “Fire & Water.”
Rodgers has written recorded, produced and released 30 albums since 1968 and sold more than 90 million records.
Saturday night, after the races, the Rock-N-Roar Concert will feature a nationally known classic rock band.
Both concerts will get underway at the close of daytime racing activities - approximately 6:45 p.m. - in the Fountain area facing Ocean Blvd. in front of the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center!
